I could not help but blog this baby. Jake & Katie are getting married in a few weeks, but we did a spring shoot to add to their portrait collection which included a fall shoot with our team as well!! Here is a shot from tonight, I’ll be posting more soon!
TJ and Shannon were an amazing couple to shoot. Both so photogenic and fun! Their Ceremony was in North Tustin at Trinity United Presbyterian Church, and the reception was held at Strawberry Farms Golf Course in Irvine. Their cake was by Rockewells Creative Cakes.
I was totally inspired to shoot for myself this week at the hotel I’m staying at: The Jane. Its a beautiful turn of the century hotel that is a sweet spot here on the water in the Meatpacking/West Village area of lower Manhattan. Everything about it was screaming “shoot me”! Modeled after the Titanic, where survivors were housed once rescued and brought back here, so the story goes, this hotel feels as if it was as is 100 years ago. Founded in 2008 it is adjoined by a sweet little french cafe in the lower lobby. The food is fabulous there.
I found this little oasis in NYC, as I was thumbing through the United Airlines magazine, hotel reviews of NYC, literally on the way to La Guardia from Washington Dullas. I’m loving shooting this kind of stuff again. The hotel has rooms that start out at $75, and rooms for 2 that start at $175.

A few weeks ago we had our workshop in San Luis Obispo. We were blessed with some sweet warm weather. Thanks to Ben Potter at Cana Video for coming out and shooting with us and putting together this stellar video of the afternoon! The only thing I enjoy more than shooting an amazing wedding is shooting the amazing wedding of close friends! Jake and Necia are both members of our Mike Larson team. Jake is an associate photographer and our graphic designer, and Necia is our new album designer. They celeberated their wedding at the Dana Powers House in Nipomo. The day was full of fanatic DIY (do it yourself) touches that Necia coordinated, like the collection of vintage plates she put together for the reception flat-wear, the kids craft table with customized handmade totes for each child, the balloon bouquet strung with yarn, and the amazing invitations and guest programs they designed (complete with suduko and trivia games). The rest was done with the help of many of our favorite vendors. Necia’s updo was done at the adorable Blue Bird Salon, Corinne at Panacea Flowers put together the amazing floral arrangements, we had the The Booth Experience there with two customized booths, Got You Covered provided the reception set up, the event was catered by Upper Crust, and Kramer DJs led the party into the night!
