Edna Valley Engagement Shoot | Kurt + Heather

Wednesday, May 26, 2010

Meet Kurt and Heather, this is a couple who has so much fun style.  They decided they wanted to shoot at Old Edna Bed and Breakfast. I could write an entire story about what an ideal location this was, and I’m for sure goin to shoot here in the future!  The moment I stepped into the house and saw them and everything inside, I freaked out and could not stop pressing the trigger, shooting.  Granted, we did shoot in hyper mode to get as many cool shots as possible in the hour we had there before the guests arrived.  It seemed that everything in this house went along with what Kurt & Heather were all about.  After shooting at the house we ventured over to the Sextant Vineyards, which Heather works for and shot in the rows of grapes until there was no more light.  Overall this was a very inspirational shoot and I will just let the images speak for themselves.  I know your going to enjoy this shoot.  I look forward to seeing your thoughts & comments.

We ended with such a beautiful night.  I could have shot forever on this shoot, but sunset only lasts so long…

Munich, Germany Engagement Shoot | Ingo & Carmen racing Vespas in Europe

Friday, May 14, 2010

Munich is a real fun location, and on our last trip out here, I’ve really fallen in love with this old city.  In the heart of Bavaria this is a German town that has charm, history, lots of green amongst beautiful architecture. So when Ingo & Carmen asked me to shoot them, I was absolutely thrilled to shoot this!  They are a really sweet couple and great photographers, in fact I think they are leading in their industry in Germany!

I love shooting in these European cities, and this time I got to bring Rachel out.  I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to travel across Europe several times since my 1st time visiting & shooting a wedding in Italy in 2007.

Planning this shoot was fun, we wanted a youthful but sophisticated, creative and fun shoot.  So this is what we got.  Ingo loves vespas and has one himself, and since Carmen loved to ride tandem, they had a sweet time racing down the streets and courtyards of this square.  I was riding on a bike we borrowed from a passerby and at my top cycling speed tried to keep up with them to grab the shots while I was riding!(Carmen, can you send me some of the footage of me shooting?!)

I seriously have to get me one of these, they are SO much fun to race around in.

We ended up walking around and scouting for some cool locations with backgrounds that work well.  I am always looking

Sometimes for me to get creative, I just need to sit and think for a while, and for that, I give them a scenario and sit 20-30 feet back and let them just be themselves and I wait to be inspired.  Both of them have so much style i was in heaven shooting.  Rachel was doing a stellar job working beside me and using our Sunbounce to get the “perfect” light.

When you can just let a couple “be” you can get some of the most emotional and fun shots.  Carmen just could not stop laughing and having a good time here.  Ingo just could not stop having fun as well.

Right as we were bout to end the shoot, this opera was about to begin and we were swarmed with people as the sun was setting and I really wanted to capture a serene view of the Munich opera house, without a crowd, so I had to lay down on the pavement and the ONLY shot I wanted was above a sewer vent.  Oh well, sometimes you got to get dirty to get the best shots.

Thanks guys for an amazing shoot and we’ll see you out in Zingst for 3 days of Fashion Journalistic shoots!

If your a photographer and want come to a portfolio workshop where you can shoot these kinds of shoots, check out the signup info & details on the Workshop site!  I’m teaching & leading the shoot on June 2, 4 & 6th in Zingst Germany, at the BIG photography convention there, and its going to be a great time.  See you there!

Marcus and Liz are a sweet couple and it was pleasure to shoot their wedding here on the central coast. To start the day, Liz had her hair done at Tutta Bella Salon, and her bridal bouquet with pearls and charms was the work of Flowers by Denise. The ceremony was at Saint Patricks Church and the reception held at Cyrpess Ridge in Arroyo Grande. The Cake designed by The Cakery, DJ and lighting for the event was from the Kramer Entertainment team. Videography was done by Curtis Nemitz, .
