Matt & Crystal

Matt & Crystal have a huge heart. Their big dog certainly proves it. Jamison is their 160 lb St. Bernard, who is most likely going to be walking the ring down the Isle. I can't wait for that! So last week we took them around to a bunch of cool locations, one being my favorite, on the tracks, after the sun went down. Shooting couples like them is really fun and relaxing because they are so free, fun and just relaxed being themselves. Thats what makes these sessions really strand out as something fun unique. They were serious at times and goofy. I know when I'm with Rachel, my sweet bride, I am totally myself, and I loved how my buddy Cameron Ingalls captured that. I am always inspired by my own life when I shoot, and often I am inspired by others. Seeing couples in love like this, reminds me how simple life is during the engaged period. Thats why I LOVE to capture this, May this be the time that sets the benchmark for how much fun they will have, always looking back remembering WHY they got married and that their kids would even look and say. "My parents were smokin' back then!" (and still are). So here are my fav's from the day.

Singapore Camera Toss

I got this letter from a friend I met at WPPI and I thought it was cool.  Bernard sent me this email and I think its so crazy that someone halfway across the world is tossing their camera up as well.

Hi Mike

I think my colleague Chor Hui communicated with you about a 1 day course that you may conduct here in Singapore. I'm looking for people to make up the number and am looking forward to meet you again...

I'm actually the guy who asked you how did you do the 'camera in the air' group shot at the young guns talk at WPPI. Not sure if you remember...
But you asked me to email you if I tried it... and here it is... not a perfect shot but I'm trying to get better at it.... Thank you for the advice....

See you soon and take care...

Amazing NEW wedding books

For Photographers:

Every so often I showcase some of the products we use on this website. The new album company we are now working with is KISS wedding books. I met up with Kevin & Shaun last year and have grown to love them and their products.  Their customer service is better than any other company we have worked with.

For Brides:

We have so many albums to choose from and I want an album that is not like every other.  There are many that remind of "the masses".  I think that the album you have for the rest of your life should be something that you won't see everyone else having.  I love the feeling that we have an exclusive product, something a smaller company can produce means that originality and quality are paid attention to.  So far we have ordered books for most off of our last 12 weddings. From a pure perspective view, these books are unlike anything else in the industry. I LOVE how simple they are to order (after the design process). From a Photographer's standpoint they are a dream. Here are some images from Shawn & Jenn's album. Their wedding submission won a Knot.com award last month.

For reals this time

Ok so now, we are finally boarding our flight. Its 12 hours later than
our scheduled flight, but that's ok cause so many people came
alongside us and made this happen. The United counter agent took such
good care of us. I feel blessed to be on this flight. Good night....

We got em!

Almost 7 hours after we went to the airport to check in the first
time, we got our visas!! We had been praying all day, and watching
others get turned around in front of us. I was pretty set on not
going. Wishing i could turn back time and had realized i needed them.
So this is a HUGE miracle, that we are able to go! Rachel and I were
praying that GOD would have favor and grace on this situation. The
ladies who took care of our passports were so sweet and we were the
last people to leave the office. I am so blessed.

Beautiful city, lots of legwork

Kinkos to the consulate, back to the car, to kinkos again, passport
photos in walgreens, consulate, jamba juice, and the post office. Then
waiting at the consulate. Kinds feels like the first day on a new
job. At least the city is pretty and its a beautiful day!

Sitting in line.

The consulate staff here are gracious, but by the book. They gave did
background checks and thats what took a bit of time. So the vice
consul even checked my website and blog to see if I was legit. She
gave us some good advice for future travel to Brasil.

Whoops

I've been able to get visas at the airport ticket counter before, but
we just found out that we needed to get a special $130 visa! They
only take money orders, yeah, I got my run on as I raced over to the
post office to get the cash. We hoped to make our 11am flight.

Leaving for Brasil!

My parents are really sweet. They took us to the SFO airport this
morning. We love you guys'! Off to shoot a wedding in Brasil!
