Napa Valley Wedding | { Jeff + Megan : Part I }

Friday, January 6, 2012

Jeff and Megan are the sweetest, most in love couple you’ll meet. They met in college when Jeff was attending Stanford University & Megan was attending Santa Clara University.  Four years later he whisked her to Barcelona and proposed on their anniversary. Growing up in Sonoma, Megan always knew that she wanted to have her wedding reception at a winery, and as soon as they started discussing wedding venues, she knew it had to be Chateau St. Jean. As the planning began, they knew they wanted great music and a fun party for their family and friends, with beautiful decor by Sharla Flock Floral Designs. I know you are going to enjoy this gorgeous wedding, tucked away in a beautiful part of the Napa Valley and Sonoma wine country region.

Chateau Margene Wedding | {Chris + Jana}

Wednesday, December 7, 2011

Private estate weddings are beautiful, and this one being at a vineyard residence was exceptional.  This property has been in the family now for the second decade.  The vines were first planted in 1997, and in 2001 they won the double blind taste test in San Francisco. Chateau Margene Vineyard has since propelled its way into becoming an ultra-premium vineyard.  The entire family consists of some of the sweetest, most  down-to-earth, inspiring and creatively driven individuals you will meet.  They are experts at their craft, and really set the bar for a tasting experience. I’ve been inspired and have learned a lot from them over the last few years.

A winemaker and his beloved wife would tie the knot on this beautiful day.

Backing up many months, who would have known that one winter day, sweet Jana, a visiting school teacher, would wander into their tasting room one afternoon, only to meet Chris, the man of her dreams.  That fateful decision that would lead them to this beautiful wedding day.

This day was an incredible fall day with a beautiful palate of the colors of autumn leaves in the vineyard.  Each set of vines turn stunning colors at different points and drop their leaves at different times.  The Merlot was first to turn golden, and that’s where we chose to have their “first look”.  We selected a peaceful spot among the ancient oaks dotting the west side of their property, one of Chris’s favorite spots.

The food reminded me of a thanksgiving feast mixed with a fall Bavarian cuisine.  So delicious and selected with the perfect seasonal ingredients. Jana chose an elegant white theme with the exception of her ingenious guest gifts, the cabernet sauvignon jam.  Topping that was the wine which paired beautifully.  They chose their 07 Ciello Rosso, the 08 Reserve Pinot Noir, and the flagship wine, their 2007 Beau Melange, which is french for beautiful blend.  It’s a bordeaux style wine which paired perfectly with their main course.

Chris & Jana just had their premier release image viewing in our studio lounge, and it was a pleasure to relive the joys and vows they shared together on that day. Enjoy this collection.

Paris Portrait, Travel Photography | {Byron + Candice}

Tuesday, November 22, 2011

I love this couple.  Candice & Byron have a very full passport.  So its not a surprise, that while at one of her friends weddings this summer we made plans to shoot in Paris.  When we met up last week, we spent a few hours documenting their travel lifestyle and cruising around to some of their favorite spots in the city. France has been growing on me.  Before, France was just more of an unknown, and trailing in interest behind Italy & Greece.  But I’ve since fallen in love with Paris and the French country.  I’m not sure if it was being able to bike around the entire city and see everything at 10kph, and take it all in on a fresh crisp quiet saturday morning, or it could have been the savory sweet taste of the croissant topped with almonds and powdered sugar with a hot cup of tea to start my morning.  This november has been the warmest on record for a long time in Europe and it felt like early fall weather.  I recommend getting a chance to see and enjoy the food, sites and history of this land.  Enjoy the shoot!

Montecito Wedding | {Lars & Heather}

Wednesday, November 9, 2011

I love montecito weddings.  This was nestled in the hills among gorgeous estates was no exception!  Not only the location, but October weddings are my favorite, because the month is so perfect in every way.  Not only the weather, but the season is a culmination of the end of summer and the beginning of Fall.  This day was wonderful and the family and folks invited were a great group to capture.  Heather is a beautiful bride and Lars(from Sweden – where my ancestral roots are from) was a genuine one-of-a-kind type of guy.  They had their “kids”(their little puppies) with them during the wedding and sometimes they stole the show!  Their smiles were as big and warm as the sunset they rode off into in the horse drawn carriage.  Enjoy these highlights of their wedding!
