Sitting atop a hill, with paralleling views like that of Tuscany , few wineries stand out along vineyard drive as this one. Their wine is fabulous and you can play bocci ball and watch the sunset. The custom built estate on the property with the stunning veranda make this place a wonderful spot to get married and entertain guests. Panacea Floral Event Design designed and created out with the decor for this event.

Dana Powers Wedding | Jeff & Darcy
Wednesday, June 16, 2010
I’ve been shooting so many casual portrait sessions lately, which you can see from the posts I’ve been writing about. Now that wedding season is in full swing I’ve been artistically on a rampage with creativity and I’ve been excited about what I’ve been capturing. This wedding was at one of my favorite locations, the Dana Powers House (where our photographer and album designer Jake & Necia got married last fall, check out their picts here and on The Wedding Chicks where they were featured). The luxurious floral decor was coordinated by Corinne at Panacea Floral Event Design. The Sea Shanty provided the food & the Cakery made their fantastic cake.
Jeff & Darcy. They were a couple who knew what they wanted. They had great classic style and were very fun to work with. They wanted to make their wedding different and the coolest thing was to see how much they cared for their family & friends. Above all, as a photojournalist, capturing people loving people, never goes out of style. Thats the most exciting thing to capture for me. There was plenty of that for me today!
As we were shooting, I followed Darcy around the 3 story house and captured her getting ready from a distance and occasionally we found some really cool stuff that inspired me to shoot some of these portraits
Jeff, you got such a gem, she was so excited to meet you all day. I know you know this, but you are blessed my friend.
the Dana Powers house has so much variety and the diversity of rooms, and elements and spectacular lighting give me so much to shoot with. I could shoot here for a week and still have inspiration to get ever diverse shots.
the pillow fight, enough said. This was all them.
Ok. Jeff, the pride on your face of the day you committed to the girl of your dreams.
Here are some of my favorite details & shots of the day.
3 pm and its time for the Ceremony. All their guests gathered in a warm spring morning to see Jeff & Darcy tear up as they met in the isle, later parading out proud as could be.
Jeff, on his own cue, picked his wife up for the last shot of them at sunset, Darcy loved being picked up by Jeff and was such a happy ball of excitement.
Summing up the day well, The Photobooth Experience was there capturing all the guests, kids, grandparents and family laughing, loving, & being silly together. Barn weddings rock. As much as I love the European Castle weddings, there is something charming about the quiet countryside barn weddings in California that have so much style they have a spot in my heart. Thanks guys for an amazing day.
Wedding | Loboheme Spring Line
Tuesday, April 20, 2010
I shot Lauren Christensen’s wedding in 2007 and when we shot her sister Chelsea’ wedding last summer we reconnected and I was stoked to hear about her vintage bridal hairpeice company, Lobomeme, that she had spearheaded! Last week we got to coordinate on a much anticipated shoot for her new spring line. We teamed up with our amazing florist next door, Corinne of Panacea Floral Event Design who ran with Lauren’s inspiration boards and created whimsical bridal bouquets. Reeda Gorham went to work and prepped our models with unbelievable lashes and flirty fun makeup and Skylae Johnson was the mastermind behind the whimsical hairstylings, both from Faces and A La Mode. Wardrobe was largely from Lauren’s vintage collection wardrobe, and the beautiful lace dress and slip, and the tea length tea dress and sash were shipped in from Maine from Kara Wilbur’s new bridal gown boutique Sweet Love. Laura Robertson of Touch of Style Event joined us as well to help coordinate day of details (including the live doves!) and throw in her always appreciated style tips. To top if off we got to shoot at two of my favorite locations in San Luis Obispo, the Santitarium Spa (you have to see this place to believe it!) and the majestic Montana de Oro eucalyptus groves. Thanks to our models Alexa and Kassie, and Necia for assisting with lighting. Sophie and I took turn shooting the models, check out her blog as well for more pictures from the day! It was a blast getting to work with so many amazingly talented and creative professionals and good friends!
Meridian Vineyards Wedding | Nick and Heather
Friday, April 9, 2010
Nick and Heather’s wedding at Meridian Vineyards was a huge success! The event was coordinated by my good friend Laura Robertson with Touch of Style Events. Floral design and beautiful fall bouquets for the event were composed by fellow BSEG member Corinne with Panacea Floral Event Design. This was a classic central coast wine country wedding with a beautiful outdoor reception in the warm fall evening.
